Third International Conference on Waterpipe Tobacco Smoking Research: "Translating Waterpipe Tobacco Smoking Research Evidence Into Practice, Policy and Regulation" ​

Tobacco use remains the leading preventable cause of death throughout much of the world. Waterpipe tobacco use - formerly a traditional habit among men in the Eastern Mediterranean has spread across the globe. In this Third International Conference on Waterpipe Tobacco Smoking Research, AUB and its partners will share recent scholarship on waterpipe tobacco smoking with intent to inform practice, policy and regulation and enhance public health and population wellbeing. ​READ MORE​​​​​

"Creating Value, Influencing Behaviors, Improving Health and Society" Social Marketing For Public Health Executive Workshop​

The Center for Public Health Practice (CPHP) and the Department of Health Promotion and Community Health (HPCH) at the Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS) at AUB, offers an interactive executive workshop on Social Marketing in Public Health. Professor El-Jardali of FHS appointed as Co-Editor-in-Chief at the Health Research Policy and Systems (HARPS) Journal

AUB at the UN: Academia should join international efforts to stop attacks on Health Care

​A conference organized by The Lancet-American University of Beirut Commission on Syria: Health i​n Conflict and the Safeguarding Health in Conflict Coalition took place at the United Nations General Assembly on September 22. Co-sponsored by The Permanent Missions of Canada, the Kingdom of the Netherlands, the Kingdom of Spain and the United Kingdom, the event, Protecting Health Care in Armed Conflict, addressed a sharp rise in the number of attacks on healthcare workers and institutions in combat zones. FHS SRC Kicks Off its Activities with a Hiking Trip to Ras El Metn

University is about meeting new people, discovering new places, and enriching your ideas. FHS students and faculty members gathered on the second week of the Fall semester for a hiking trip to Ras El Metn.  The first activity for this semester held by FHS SRC on Sunday, September 17, was attended by more than 30 faculty members and students. Students had the chance to know each other, the Professors and the Dean better, overcome different barriers, and exchange thoughts and ideas on a beautiful day spent in nature. READ MORE

AUB establishes the first Global Health Institute in Lebanon and the region​

​​​In a message to the AUB community, AUB President Fadlo Khuri announced on July 19 the establishment of AUB’s Global Health Institute (GHI), the first such institute in the region. This initiative comes in consonance with AUB’s comprehensive vision on health, Health 2025, with the vision to establish a Health Sciences Complex (HSC) that will strategically and functionally align all core units involved in health. READ MORE​

The Center for Research on Population and Health (CRPH) in the Faculty of Health Sciences  in AUB organized a conference entitled No one left behind: A feas​ible goal for the health SDGs in the Arab region. 29 May 2017 marked another special occasion that will always be remembered in the Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS) in the American University of Beirut (AUB) as one hundred and thirty one students celebrated their graduation with their families, friends, and professors, in a reception organized by FHS in Issam Fares Hall.
