Assistant Professor or above in Animal Physiology
The Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences, at the American University of Beirut seeks a full-time faculty appointee who will develop distinguished research and teaching programs in the field of Animal Physiology. The appointment will be at the level of Assistant Professor or above, starting August 15 2017.

Qualifications:
  • Ph.D. in Animal Physiology or related field in Animal Sciences. Successful candidates will demonstrate strong teaching capability, excellent communication skills, and potential for developing an internationally recognized research agenda pertaining to bovine and small ruminant operations including securing and conducting externally-funded research, and comprehensive meta-analyses of literature data.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach is imperative. Preference will be given to a person with experience in Animal Physiology, bovine and small ruminant production from previous teaching or other employment. The position requires the ability to communicate orally and in writing and the skill to be an effective teacher in the classroom or other public forums.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct research trials among others in the physiology of nutrition, lactation, reproduction and adaptation of livestock, in line with the required strategies of smart agriculture, to arid and semiarid regions expressed in terms of publications in international refereed journals.

Responsibilities: 

Develop and conduct a teaching and research program in the Department of Agriculture in Animal Physiology. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate courses (four per year - fall and spring semesters) in animal anatomy and physiology, livestock production, and animal systems, bovine and small ruminant adaptation to arid and semiarid environments and other courses consistent with both the needs of the department and the expertise of the candidate.  

This position will also incorporate responsibilities in advising undergraduate and graduate students in Agriculture and Animal Science. The person filling this position will have the opportunity to work closely with other faculty in related and complementary teaching, research, services and applied research programs.

​​​​​​Faculty Position in Horticulture​
The Department of Agriculture at the Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences at the American University of Beirut (AUB) invites outstanding candidates to apply for the fulltime faculty position in Horticulture at the level of Assistant Professor or higher. The starting date of the appointment is December 15, 2017. The position is a full-time, nine-month, non-tenure-track position. Appointments are for an initial period of four years.​

Qualifications:
  • Applicants should possess a Ph.D. in Horticulture or related field with demonstrable expertise in sustainable horticulture systems and organic horticulture systems and practices in the production of fruit, vegetable and nursery crops and a record of successful teaching and research.
  • Demonstrated experiences in tissue culture plant production and in in-vitro crop production improvement techniques is an advantage.

Responsibilities: ​​

  • Teaching and conducting research in production horticulture in Mediterranean climate regions.
  • The incumbent will work as part of an inter-disciplinary team to improve horticultural production practices in Lebanon and to train both undergraduate and graduate MS students using facilities at AUB main campus as well as at the Faculty’s Advancing Research and Enabling Communities (AREC).​
