As AUB’s chief academic officer, the provost is responsible for the conduct, coordination, and quality of the University’s academic and research programs. The provost is responsible for setting institutional academic and research priorities that advance the mission of the University.The provost seeks to actualize AUB's academic potential by cooperating with other senior administrators to develop and implement its long-term academic and budgetary planning and management strategies. Initiating and supporting diverse activities, the provost seeks input from faculty, students, staff, and alumni, to ensure meaningful engagement in fulfilling strategic goals. The provost is assisted in this undertaking and others by the associate provost, ad hoc appointees, and permanent staff in the Provost’s Office. The provost works closely with the president and academic deans to ensure the timely review of all academic programs and policies, and the appointment, promotion, and compensation of faculty members and professional personnel in the University’s academic divisions.
The provost also oversees the administration of the University's academic support units and its interfaculty research centers and teaching units.
Efforts are focused on maintaining excellence in educational programs, scholarship, and research, and on ensuring effective participation of multiple constituencies on collaborative work.
