Viviane S. Tabar, MD

A trustee since 2019 and a former AUB graduate (BS '85, MD '89), Tabar is the chair of the Department of Neurosurgery and the Theresa C. Feng Chair in Neurosurgical Oncology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. Dr. Tabar is a member of the National Academy of Medicine. She is a physician-scientist whose lab work is focused on the development of cell-based therapies for neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinson's disease, and cognitive impairment following chemotherapy and radiation to the brain. Dr. Tabar has also pioneered brain tumor modeling in pluripotent stem cell systems. Tabar completed her postdoctoral work at the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke following her neurosurgical residency at the University of Massachusetts.​
