  Founded in 1866, the American University of Beirut is a teaching-centered research university based on the American liberal arts model of higher education. AUB has over 8,000 students and 800 faculty members. The University encourages freedom of thought and expression and seeks to graduate men and women committed to creative and critical thinking, lifelong learning, personal integrity, civic responsibility, and leadership.

  AUB is accredited in the US by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education and includes six faculties: Arts and Sciences, Medicine, Engineering and Architecture, Agricultural and Food Sciences, Health Sciences, and Business. AUB offers more than 130 programs leading to bachelor's, master's, MD, and PhD degrees. The main language of instruction is English.

Mission

The Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion/Title IX at AUB is committed to fulfilling the university's mission by leading university-wide initiatives that promote diversity, equity, and inclusion across all faculties, units, and centers, and actively prevent and address all forms of discriminatory harassment, including sexual harassment. Through evidence-based strategies and collaboration with stakeholders, the office aims to support a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment that fosters a genuine sense of belonging, tolerance, and respect for all members of the AUB community to thrive.

Vision

The Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion/Title IX at AUB envisions a pioneering safe campus, free of all forms of discriminatory harassment, and champions a culture where all voices are heard, respected, and valued. We aspire to foster a distinguished diverse, inclusive, and exemplary campus climate that stands out in our local and global communities, and prepares all AUB members to contribute to a more equitable society.
