The University Libraries provides a range of computing and information technology services for all library users.
Workstations
Computers at the University Libraries have up-to-date software and operating systems. Some workstations also feature special software such as SPSS and others.
In Jafet, public workstations are located in the Computer Lab and in other designated areas in the lobby. The computer lab at Jafet also includes a few high-end i-Mac computers, with 27-inch retina display screens.
Personal File Storage
Files cannot be stored permanently on public computers. Users are expected to utilize their OneDrive, X-Drive or their own external drives to save documents.
Any file(s) stored on library public computers will be deleted automatically upon restarting the system.
The campus wireless network is available to all AUBnet, Eduroam and Guest account holders.
Active students, faculty and staff members may connect to the AUBdot1X wireless service by following the steps listed here:
AUB Wireless Configuration.
Library visitors from campuses and institutions that are members of Eduroam Network can use their institutional credentials to access the Eduroam Wireless network. For more information, visit:
http://eduroam.aub.edu.lb/.
Other library visitors may request a temporary account to connect to the wireless network brought by visitors to the University libraries. For further assistance please contact
cc05@aub.edu.lb.
AUB Users
Network printers and photocopiers are available in all libraries. Users who have an active AUBnet account can use the printers from any public computer in the libraries. The user also needs to have a printing/copying/scanning account with sufficient funds.
Visitors
Non-AUB users may use the allocated stand-alone photocopier and a printer that is connected locally to a computer at Jafet, who do not have an AUBnet account. Visitors must purchase a magnetic card to print or copy. Automatic dispenser machines to buy magnetic cards are available in Jafet Library in the photocopying and printing area.
Fees: Printing of one A4 page costs 1 unit (L.L.50). The machine accepts only L.L5000, and the libraries do not deal with cash change.
Scanning (Stand-Alone)
There is at least one local flatbed scanner available in each of the libraries, locally connected to dedicated workstations.
