This books deals with the instability and growth of the foreign trade of nine countries of the Middle East Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Syria, and Turkey between the late 1940s and the early 1960s. Foreign trade includes exports and imports, and services as well as goods; capital movements are not treated, however. Primary attention is given to instability namely, year-to-year variations around a trend-line. ​
