ESDU is organizing a "Souk Aal Souk” Farmers' Market

The market will present around 15 producers from all over Lebanon who will propose a variety of fresh, traditional and healthy p​roducts (Fruits & vegetables, mouneh, pastries, saj etc.). Fun and educational activities will be proposed during the market.

​​Honey Day 2017

The Apiculture class, in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture, invites you to join Honey Day 2017. This event highlights the role of FAFS Honeybee Lab in preserving AUB's greenery and the urgent need to revisit our adopted food and agricultural systems. It will include the display of live honey extraction and tasting, homemade honey pastries, gift items, trivia games etc.

TAKTYK is a transnational multidisciplinary practice that engages in city making through practice, research, design studios, editing and a​rt installations. Responding to heterogeneous and complex challenges at the intersection of landscape, infrastructure and the city, the practice acts as a mediator of complex transformation processes.

Food Security Program Presents a L​ecture on "Agriculture and War: The Case of Yemen"​

​​Professor Martha Mundy from the London School of Economics, expert in agricultural crisis in the Arab East, is giving a lecture on Agriculture and W​ar in Yemen.

​About the Speaker:​

Martha Mundy has served as Professor of Anthropology at the London School of Economics since 1996. Since 2012, she has worked on agrarian history and the contemporary crisis of agriculture in the Arab East. She conducted extensive field research in North Yemen from 1973-77. Professor Mundy has taught at UCLA, Lyon 2 Lumière University, the American University of Beirut, and Yarmouk University (Jordan).

3000 Nights Screening​ and Discussion with Director Mai Masri​

On the occasion of Land​ Day, ESDU in collaboration with ULYP and the Palestinian Club at AUB, invites you to the screening of the film “3000 Nights”, followed by a discussion with Director ​Mai Masri.​​

Proceeds of the ticket sales will go towards the establishment of an ESDU scholarship fund to support Palestinian/Arab female students enrolled in the Rural Community Development Graduate Program at FAFS.

About 3000 Nights:

The movie, inspired by true events, tells the story of a newlywed Palestinian schoolteacher who is falsely arrested and incarcerated​ in an Israeli prison where she gives birth to her son. Through her struggle to raise her child behind bars, the film traces her journey of hope, resilience and survival against all odds.

About the Director: 

Mai Masri is an award-winning filmmaker who studied film at UC Berkeley and San Francisco State University. She directed and produced several documentaries that were screened worldwide and won over 60 international awards. 3000 Nights, her first narrative feature film, premiered at Toronto International Film Festival and won over 23 international awards. It is Palestine and Jordan's official entry at the Golden Globes and the Oscar Academy Awards.

​​Workshop on Biological Control​​​

Integrated Pest Management  for Sustainable Production of Greenhouse Vegetables in Lebanon.

About the Workshop:

The current pest control practices rely heavily on the use of pesticides. Its overuse, abuse and misuse may result in serious health hazards to humans, wild life and the environment. This workshop identifies pests and natural e​nemies ​and includes a presentation and a lab session.
