The Graduate Fellowship and Assistantship Program (GFAP) at the American University of Beirut provides fellowship support composed of partial or full tuition coverage for students at the master’s level towards the fulfillment of their degree requirements. Awards are allocated on a competitive basis based on merit and qualifications, departmental needs and recommendation as prioritized , and availability of funds as per the policy published at GFAP
For new students, the application process is part of the online graduate admissions process. Continuing students can apply for a GFAP position through their own specific department.
Rules and Regulations for GFAP Positions:
- If the student is placed on Academic Probation, he/she will lose their GFAP position.
- Prospective Students are not considered for GFAP positions.
- Assistantships do not cover fees for undergraduate courses.
- GFAP is for a period of two consecutive years towards the student’s degree.
- Partial GA (50%) requires the student to register full load as the discipline requires and he/she will pay out for pocket for the remaining 50 % to be in line with the 2 years GFAP.
- Assistantships do not cover the miscellaneous fees.
- The maximum load of a GFAP student is subject to a total limit of 20 hours per week during the term.
