Global Humanities Network Summer School General Opportunities

​​​​​​​AUB graduate students are invited to submit applications to participate in the inaugural Global Humanities Network (GHN) Summer School to be held on June 22—July 7, 2024. GHN is a Cambridge University-led consortium of seven universities including AUB.

This two-week program, under the title "Rhythms of Water: Water, Climate and Global Humanities," will be hosted by the Institute of Global Humanities at Nanjing University (the first week in Suzhou, and the second week in Nanjing).

The Summer School will explore humanity’s interactions with the seas, rivers, and canals on which societies depend, investigating connections between water, urban societies, and climate. Students will delve into cultural, historical, and artistic responses to the benefits and threats of water, not only in China but also worldwide. The Summer School will consist of lectures, collaborative research, and cultural activities.

There will be no tuition fees for participation in the Summer School. The Nanjing University Institute of Global Humanities and the Office of International Cooperation and Exchanges Nanjing University will provide participants with on-campus hotel accommodation, catering, local transportation, and field visits. Students or their own universities will cover for international travel - AUB as a partner institution will be able to provide three travel bursaries.
