The Department of Economics at the American University of Beirut is one of the largest in the Faculty of Arts and Sciences. It features diverse international faculty members committed to excellence in both teaching and research. Faculty in the Department have a wide range of research interests covering, among others, health economics, labor economics, financial economics, macroeconomics, economic methodology, and the economics of the Middle East region, with a focus on energy economics and poverty and inequality.
At the graduate level, the department offers two degrees: an MA in Economics and an MA in Financial Economics. At the undergraduate level, the Department offers BA in Economics and minor in Economics for non-Economics majors. The department holds a regular seminar series by faculty members as well as international scholars. Departmental faculty also staff a research center, the Institute of Financial Economics.

The Department of
Economics is located in Ada Dodge Hall, 2nd floor. To reach it, enter
from Main Gate and turn left. Ada Dodge is the building hosting the
cafeteria. Past the cafeteria stairs, turn left again. This is the
entrance of the Department of Economics.
