Overview

The Health Communication program at the Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS) at the American University of Beirut (AUB) invites you to a two-day interactive Masterclass on Generative AI for Campaign Design. This workshop introduces undergraduate and freshman students to the strategic use of generative AI tools—particularly Copilot and ChatGPT—for enhancing the efficiency and creativity of health communication campaigns.

Participants will explore how AI can support the development of persuasive, data-driven, ethical, and citizen‑oriented campaign messages, with a focus on social and health behavior change.

Workshop Audience and Focus

Open to AUB undergraduates from multiple majors (Health Communication, Media Studies, Nursing, Psychology, Nutrition, etc.).
Open to freshman students
Includes hands‑on exercises, group activities, and critical discussions.
Focuses on ethical, practical use of generative AI in creative and strategic workflows.

Masterclass Learning Outcomes

By the end of the Masterclass, participants will be able to:

Develop and refine creative briefs optimized for input into generative AI tools, specifically Copilot and ChatGPT.

Critically assess AI-generated creative outputs to enhance quality and strategic alignment with campaign goals.

Integrate AI-assisted techniques into practical workflows for rapidly producing persuasive, data-driven, and person-centered interventions.

About the Instructor

Dr. Marco Bardus

Assistant Professor in Public Health, University of Birmingham

His work focuses on health communication, social marketing, and digital health interventions for behavior change. Previously, he served as Assistant Professor at AUB’s Department of Health Promotion and Community Health (FHS).

Expertise Highlights

Designing and evaluating behavior-change communication and social marketing interventions
Applying digital health and AI-assisted approaches to message design and campaign strategy
Evidence synthesis (systematic reviews) and evaluation methods in public health
Experience across academia, government, and NGOs in Lebanon, the UK, and internationally
