Dr. Samar Al-Hajj, MENA PAIR Director and Assistant Research Professor at the Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS) at the American University of Beirut (AUB), has been awarded the Artificial Intelligence Exploratory Research Grant for her proposal titled "Artificial Intelligence for Data Injury Analytics (AIDIA) Study: Leveraging Artificial Intelligence for Assessing Human and Economic Injury Burden."
As the Principal Investigator (PI) of the study, Dr. Al-Hajj will lead the project, along with Dr. Khalil Asmar, Assistant Professor at the Department of Epidemiology and Population Health, serving as the Co-Principal Investigator (Co-PI), and Dr. Rida Assaf, Assistant Professor of Computer Science at AUB, as the Co-Investigator (Co-I). This study aims to develop and validate AI-driven techniques for analyzing insurance claims injury data, utilizing predictive models for injury classification and identifying cost drivers.
This research seeks to enhance the understanding of the injury burden using AI advanced techniques. Findings from this study will be useful for healthcare planning and policy, improving injury prevention strategies, and providing insights for better financial management in healthcare.
