MMA-Neuromuscular Diagnostic Laboratory
 

​​​​​​​​​​​​Scopes​

​The MMA-neuromuscular diagnostic laboratory (MMA-NMDL) was established in 2008 as part of the pathology and laboratory medicine (PLM) department. It provides a sub-specialty laboratory services essential for the diagnosis of neuromuscular diseases. Specialized testing performed in this laboratory includes evaluation of muscle and peripheral nerve biopsies utilizing histochemical and immunohistochemical methods, as well as state-of-the-art biochemical studies and multiplex immunoblotting. In particular cases, further genetic testing is performed in close collaboration with the molecular laboratory within the PLM department or in collaboration with referred sequencing centers.
In addition to the comprehensive diagnostic services, the MMA-NMDL is committed to transmitting knowledge and skills through the “Neuromuscular pathology" training program (Click here for further info)​​  that provides internal and external pathology and neurology residents with adapted elective rotations and research opportunities.
