Conceived over a decade ago, the Knowledge to Policy (K2P) Center became a reality in 2013. Back then, we envisioned a world where we could make research evidence more accessible to policymakers, narrow the gap between science and politics, and impact peoples’ lives through strengthening public health policy and improving health outcomes. We at K2P Center deploy innovative knowledge translation approaches and advocacy strategies to inform public health policies and impact decisions. Through diverse and innovative products, services, engagement strategies and deliberative dialogues, K2P brings clarity to the policy table, empowers citizens, thinkers and future leaders, builds capacity, and provides context-specific solutions to complex policy issues.
Initiated by the Faculty of Health Sciences with the support of the American University of Beirut (AUB), K2P Center has been able to strengthen and institutionalize relationships with decision makers and policymaking institutions and influence health policy decisions in Lebanon and the region.
K2P strives to be a leading hub to strengthen public health policy and practice and improve health outcomes in the Arab Region and beyond. In realizing this vision, we will continue to play a role in championing policy ideas, placing issues into government agenda, seizing opportunities to
advocate and influence policy outcomes and acting as policy entrepreneur to make an impact. We will continue to test models for knowledge translation that are culturally appropriate, relevant, and effective and institutionalize new practices for transformative change in the way policies for health are developed and implemented.
K2P will also support the implementation of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by collaborating with local, regional and global partners to identify priorities, synthesize and integrate evidence into multi-sectoral policy decisions.
