    ​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​The AUB Archaeological Museum, founded in 1868, is the third oldest museum in the Near East, after Cairo and Constantinople. It is a regional Museum with collections from 7 countries Lebanon, Syria, Cyprus, Egypt, Palestine, ​Iraq, and Iran. The Museum was renovated in 1999 and reopened to the public in 2006.


    Tour information

    Guided tours of the Museum may be provided upon prior request, by email addressed to the Museum assistant (museum@aub.edu.lb). The request should include the name of the institution / agency, the number of visitors, the time and date of the visit.
    For school tours, students' age should​ be added to the above information.

    Recommended duration for the Museum visit is one hour.
    Museum entrance is free of charge.

    A free audio guide is available at the Museum entrance desk.​


    Museum open hours


    • Opening hours in winter: 
      Monday through Friday
      from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm
    • Opening hours in summer: 
      Monday through Friday
      from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm
    • Closed during official and AUB holidays​
