The gender gap will persist across the MENA region, despite the high rates of skilled and educated women who remain largely unemployed in the region. To address these gaps and work towards gender-inclusive employment policies, it is critical to unpack these trends as they exist in specific sectors.
Economic and social empowerment are interlinked, which is why interventions on both fronts are required to address the challenges that women face in society and at the workplace.
Gender Lens Investing (GLI) can play a significant role as a strategic tool to alleviate the burdens women face as consumers, employees, and entrepreneurs, such as a lack of access to finance, cultural biases, and opportunity inequality, among other things.
