Welcome to the American University of Beirut (AUB) in Beirut, Lebanon! We are very proud of our long and distinguished history. We are also proud of our glorious campus, which is widely recognized as one of the most beautiful in the world.
AUB is home to
the third oldest museum in the Near East that boasts a stunning collection; some wonderful historic buildings, such as the iconic College Hall (the oldest building on campus) and Assembly Hall; and also award-winning buildings such as the Zaha Hadid-designed home of the Issam Fares Institute for Public Policy and International Affairs and the Charles Hostler Student Center, which was designed by VJAA.
Depending on the timing of your visit, you may be able to attend a concert in Assembly Hall. (Check out the calendar for upcoming events.) There are always interesting exhibits at our two art galleries: the AUB Byblos Bank Art Gallery and Rose and Shaheen Saleeby Museum, which is just a short walk from the Main Gate. Don’t miss the stunning sculpture by Saloua Raouda Choucair adjacent to the Jafet Library. While you’re in the area, be sure to stop by the library’s Archives & Special Collections. You won’t be disappointed.
There is lots to see—and to enjoy! You can explore the campus
on your own or join one of our
guided walking tours. We have a limited number of golf carts for those of you who may need assistance navigating our beautiful campus. (There are a lot of stairs! There are also lots of benches.)
